Joel Thomas, running backs coach at Purdue the past three years, has been hired for the same position on Steve Sarkisian's staff at Washington, according to a Rivals.com report, later confirmed by a source.
Thomas, a Port Angeles native, played running back at Idaho, where he left as the school's leading career rusher. He later was co-offensive coordinator there under Nick Holt, who last week was named UW's defensive coordinator.
Washington also is expected to announce soon the hires of Jeff Mills as defensive back coach and Mike Cox as linebackers coach. The hires would leave UW with two openings remaining, both on offense.
