UW vs. Cal preview

What to expect: The Bears are heavy favorites and have advantages at every position. UW's hope is to replicate the winning formula of last season when the Huskies rushed for 360 yards and kept the Cal offense off the field. The Bears are coming off a rousing win over Stanford two weeks ago and figure to be fired up to avenge the loss to UW last season.
Notes: Washington and Cal are the only two teams in what is now the Pac-10 to have played every year since the league was founded in 1916. UW holds a 47-37-4 all-time edge but Cal has won five of the past six. Before that, however, UW had won 19 in a row, many in dramatic fashion. Coach Tyrone Willingham has his best record against any Pac-10 game against Cal, a mark of 8-2 that includes seven straight wins while coach at Stanford from 1995 to 2001. UW has scored just 46 points its last five games and has passed for fewer than 100 yards in three of those contests. Huskies have not thrown for a TD since the Notre Dame game Oct. 25 and just one in the past six games. Willie Griffin is expected to get his second straight start at TB. He rushed for 112 yards against WSU, only the second 100-yard rushing game of the season for the Huskies.
Injuries: UW: G Casey Bulyca (knee), RB Chris Polk (shoulder), QB Jake Locker (broken thumb), S Darin Harris (concussion), CB Byron Davenport (knee), RB David Freeman (ankles), DE Kalani Aldrich (back), CB Matt Mosley (knee), RB Brandon Yakaboski (knee), RB Brandon Johnson (disciplinary suspension), S Victor Aiyewa (groin) out; CB Mesphin Forrester (ankle) questionable.
Cal: LT Mike Tepper (pectoral muscle), LG Chris Guarnero (toe), RT Chet Teofilo (ankle), WR Michael Calvin (knee), NT Kendrick Payne (knee) are out.
Prediction: This is one of the stranger games in UW history, with a coach going out the door and another ready to step in. Players may not be as focused as normal. Worse, Cal will be fired up to avenge last year's loss. All signs point to a big Cal win. Cal 48, UW 6.
