Cameron Dollar, assistant men's basketball coach at Washington, is one of three finalists to become head coach at Sacramento State.

The school announced on its Web site Friday that Dollar will have an official interview Tuesday. Two California junior-college coaches also are finalists. Brian Katz of San Joaquin Delta College will interview Wednesday, and Tony Marcopulos of Cabrillo College is scheduled Thursday.

The three are vying to replace Jerome Jenkins, who was fired earlier this month after going 80-147 in eight seasons, including a 4-24 record this year. The Hornets finished last in the Big Sky Conference with a record of 2-14.

Sacramento State has long been regarded as one of the toughest NCAA Division I jobs on the West Coast, if not the country. The school has not had a winning season since moving to Division I in 1991. The best was a 15-15 record in 2005-06. Jenkins was one of the lowest-paid head coaches, with a base salary of $88,584. Dollar had a base salary of 108,000 plus a $12,000 housing allowance for the 2006-07 academic year.

But Dollar has stated often that one of his goals is to become a head coach if he feels the situation is right.

Dollar, 32, has been an assistant at UW for all six years of Lorenzo Romar's tenure. He has helped lead the Huskies to a record of 119-72 and three NCAA tournaments.

Dollar was a point guard for the UCLA team that won the 1995 NCAA title with Romar as an assistant. Dollar was an assistant under Romar for three years at Saint Louis before both moved to Washington.

Dollar was also a finalist for the head-coaching job at Long Beach State last spring before that school hired Dan Monson, former Gonzaga head coach.
