Capsule Preview | Washington State at Washington, 7 p.m., TV: FSN

Washington State at Washington

7 tonight at Edmundson Pavilion

TV/Radio: FSN/KJR (950 AM), KPTK (1090 AM), KRKO (1380 AM), KHHO (850 AM)

Records: UW 9-4; WSU 12-0

Key matchup: Hard to escape the backcourt, where a revamped UW three-guard attack will try to solve WSU's trio, which had its way with the Huskies a year ago, especially Rochestie, who averaged 15 points against UW last season. But the most fun to watch might be Brockman and Baynes in the middle. "If the refs let us go at it, we'll go at it all night, banging against each other," Brockman said.

Key stat: This game is always a battle of styles — the higher-tempo Huskies are averaging 78.2 points; WSU is allowing just 49.7. Whichever team can impose its will on the other has the upper hand.

Key quote: "It'll be a hard-fought game, no question, and a very mild-mannered environment, right?" — WSU coach Tony Bennett.

Bottom line: Huskies have high hopes after winning their past five, with the lineup solidifying with the return of Appleby from injury. They are improved defensively and playing with more purpose on offense. But the Cougars have the veteran experience, a style that always seems to bother the Huskies, and the knowledge that they have already gone into Gonzaga this year and won. WSU 71, UW 65
