Preview | Washingon (3-7, 1-6) vs. Cal (6-4, 3-4)

At stake: Little for the Huskies other than pride as a winning season is out the window. California already has clinched a bowl berth but can improve its placing with a few more victories.

What to expect: Huskies likely will go with Carl Bonnell at quarterback instead of the injured Jake Locker, which figures to mean more throwing and conventional running game and less of the spread option. With QB Nate Longshore struggling a bit, the Bears might try to amp up the running game to take advantage of UW's troubles in that area. RB Justin Forsett is second in the Pac-10 in rushing.

Notes: Cal has won five in a row against UW, all coming since Jeff Tedford took over as coach in 2002. That snapped a string of 19 consecutive victories for UW. Cal won in Berkeley last year, 31-24 in overtime. Cal's last two victories in Seattle have been 56-17 in 2005 and 42-12 in 2004. ... Washington CB Byron Davenport and Cal WR DeSean Jackson were teammates at Long Beach Poly High School. ... UW holds a 46-37-4 edge in the series. ... UW guard Ryan Tolar won't play the first half as punishment for being ejected in the second half against Oregon State. Jordan White-Frisbsee will start in his place

Injuries: California — RB Jahvid Best (hip) out; DE Rulon Davis (knee) questionable; S Marcus Ezell (quad), QB Nate Longshore (ankle) probable. Washington — FS Jason Wells (knee), LB Donald Butler (knee) out. WR Quintin Daniels (knee, back), QB Jake Locker (neck) questionable; WR Anthony Russo (ribs) probable.

Prediction: No matter the UW QB situation, the bigger issue might be Cal's running game against UW's defense. That should be enough to put the Bears over the top. Cal 35, UW 24.
