Athletic department officials for Washington and Washington State will announce today that the annual Apple Cup football game between the schools will now have a title sponsor.
The announcement will be part of a news conference this afternoon at Husky Stadium. The two schools will play for the 100th time on Nov. 24.
The Apple Cup has never before been sponsored, but it is something of a growing trend in college athletics as a means of raising money.
Washington athletic director Todd Turner has said many times that the school would have to get creative to find ways to raise additional money for such projects as the renovation of Husky Stadium, even saying at one point that he might be open to selling partial naming rights to the stadium.
It is not known how much money this deal will give each school, or the name of the title sponsor.
