A rain-garden workshop in Tukwila tonight
Create a rain garden and help save the planet.
Create a rain garden and help save the planet.
That's the message the city of Tukwila is sending as it promotes a free rain-garden training session at 6:30 tonight at Tukwila City Hall. The benefits of rain gardens — which feature native trees, shrubs, herbs and grass, and are situated to capture rainwater and return it to the ground — include reducing local flooding, preserving wildlife and filtering toxic materials.
Local nonprofit Stewardship Partners, which oversees the Puget Sound Rain Garden Project, leads the training. 6200 Southcenter Blvd., Tukwila (206-433-1800 or www.stewardshippartners.org).
