Garbage, recycling and yard waste

Rabanco/Allied Waste and Waste Management customers: If you want to set out extra yard waste or garbage for pickup, you'll be charged an additional fee — an estimated $3 to $8 for a 32-gallon can or bag, depending on where you live.

• If you live in Seattle, the city will collect extra storm-related yard debris at no charge through the end of December, even if you're not a regular subscriber. Tree debris must be less than 6 feet in length and less than 4 inches in diameter.

• Bellevue residents can take storm-related yard debris to Pacific Topsoils (1733 127th Ave. N.E.) through Jan. 14. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Christmas Eve. Closed on holidays. • Kirkland residents can take tree debris to Juanita Beach Park (9703 N.E. Juanita Drive) and Crestwoods Park (1818 Sixth St.) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Dec. 30. Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Details: www.ci.kirkland.wa.us.

Wood debris

King and Snohomish counties recommend taking storm-related wood debris (stumps and tree limbs) to private recycling processors to save time and money. See the Web sites for lists of businesses accepting wood debris for recycling:

Wind-damaged structures

King County is offering free wind-damage structural inspections to residents in unincorporated areas. Inspectors can assess whether a permit is required to proceed with repairs. To request an inspection, call 206-296-6630 or 206-296-6615.
