Saturday, May 27, 2006 - Page updated at 12:00 AM Mood magic clicks with couple's design accentsSeattle Times staff reporter For years, the architectural look of Frances Smersh's colored concrete jewelry line appealed to home décor store owners, who sold her earrings, necklaces and bracelets alongside furniture and accessories. A few years ago, Smersh and husband, John Smersh, decided it was their turn. They now feature Smersh Design Jewelry at their West Seattle store, Click! Design That Fits, but also stock the tiny, airy space with furniture and décor that appeal to their modern taste. "We could have compiled a selection of jewelry, but other things interest us as well," Frances Smersh said. The couple brought in tasteful ceramics, handbags and a few small pieces of furniture to create an inviting neighborhood store with a contemporary vibe. Why should you go? Click! maintains a charming collection of modern home décor accessories in addition to Smersh's jewelry and a small selection of furniture. The owners rotate pieces regularly to keep the choices fresh. The store sells designs by Angela Adams, including graphic, small area rugs that range in price from $72 to $193. Shoppers also can choose pieces from local craftspeople, like ceramic artist Timothy Foss and his tumblers and vases, or pick up modern designs by popular brands Roost and Joseph Joseph. The store also carries the all-vegan wallet and handbag line from Matt & Nat (price range, $35-$95), and wallets and handbags from Angela Adams ($50-$250). What's functional? Click! carries fun accessories to add spice to your home décor, as well as practical, designed pieces. If you have limited counter space, look for the stacked mugs with a matching wooden holder. The black, green and brown ceramic mugs stack in a tube-shaped holder that will fit tidily in a corner. The holder plus six mugs is $134, or build a collection gradually with mugs at $15 each and the holder at $48. Flat bud vases ($47) that hang on the wall will add an architectural element to any room, particularly if you group three together. And a drum coffee table with a glass top ($458) is a beautiful way to display ceramics without taking up precious shelf space. digs PICKS: Our faves are the stacked mugs in the tube-shaped holder ($134 for a set), paper coasters featuring made-up wine-tasting quotes ($9), Bendix Hydraulic stool with white seat ($140) and Smersh donut pearl earrings ($72).
