Guess you could call that realty reality TV. HGTV has been known for years as the home design and decorating channel, but lately it's been expanding into the realm of real estate, with such hits as "Designed to Sell," "House Hunters" and "Curb Appeal." And now, these new listings: Wanna be on TV? Energetic homeowners who are: • Planning to move or refinance. • Wondering how much value a recent renovation has added. • Willing to submit a photo of their families, along with their home's exterior and interior. • Considering using equity to finance a wedding, college education or other milestones. • Considering major renovations. "Hot Zips," Monday, 10 p.m. This special looks at the hottest neighborhoods in the country, and what makes them so popular. (Oh — now we get the title. They mean "ZIPs," as in ZIP codes. Probably.) "National Open House," sneak peek Sunday, May 21, at 9 p.m., and premiere Monday, May 29, 10:30 p.m. Curious what kind of house your Seattle salary could buy you in, say, Detroit? (You maybe could afford the entire city.) This series will check out the cost of living in cities and towns across the country so you can compare your real-estate budget to everyone else's.
