Lethbridge hands Everett Silvertips 3-2 WHL loss
Mitch Maxwell scored twice as the Lethbridge Hurricanes beat the Everett Silvertips 3-2 in a Western Hockey League game Wednesday.
LETHBRIDGE, Alberta -- Mitch Maxwell scored twice as the Lethbridge Hurricanes beat the Everett Silvertips 3-2 in a Western Hockey League game Wednesday.
The loss was the first for the Silvertips on their six-game trip through the WHL's Central Division.
Austin Fyten also scored for Lethbridge (6-11-2). Carter Ashton had two assists.
Byron Froese and Chris Langkow scored for Everett (10-5-0).
Brandon Anderson had 22 saves for Lethbridge. Kent Simpson stopped 23 shots for Everett.
After Froese tied the score at 1 with his seventh goal at the 6:58 mark of the second period, the Hurricanes regained the lead at 14:57 when Maxwell beat Simpson. Maxwell added a third-period goal for a 3-1 lead.
