Medicine Hat smacks T-birds

MEDICINE HAT, Alberta — Darren Helm had two goals and an assist to lead the Medicine Hat Tigers to a 4-1 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds in a Western Hockey League game Tuesday night.

Tommy Maxwell and Kevin Undershute also scored for Medicine Hat (20-6-0-6), which moved two points ahead of idle Calgary atop the Central Division.

Matt Keetley (19-5-0-4) stopped 31 shots for the Tigers. Seattle's Gavin McHale (3-50-1) stopped 28 shots.

Roman Tomanek scored for Seattle (12-11-1-3).
