Boys high-school basketball rankings -- Week 11

Posted by Mason Kelley

The high-school basketball postseason officially begins this week with the SPSL Tournament. On Thursday night at ShoWare, top-ranked Federal Way (19-1) will take on third-ranked Curtis (19-1) in what should be one of the top in-state matchups of the season.

The Eagles have won seven straight since falling to Jefferson (Portland) at the King Holiday Hoopfest, while the Vikings are riding a six-game streak after a one-point loss to Puyallup on Jan. 16.

Sandwiched between these two schools at No. 2 is Gonzaga Prep, which lost its only game of the season back in December. During the Bullpups' last two games, Ryan Nicholas tallied 29 points and 11 rebounds against Shadle Park and then went for 28 and 12 against Mead.

Despite its second loss to Meadowdale, Jackson rounds out a top four that remains unchanged. In fact, the only difference in the 4A rankings this week is that Richland hops over Walla Walla after knocking off the Blue Devils, 67-65 on Friday.

In 3A, the only change comes in at No. 10, where Chief Sealth jumps into the rankings for the first time this season.

Since losing to Seattle Prep by three points back on Jan. 12, the Seahawks have won seven straight, including wins over Franklin and O'Dea. Chief Sealth gets a big test Tuesday night with a matchup against second-ranked Rainier Beach.
