Blanchet wins 3A title; Archbishop Murphy second in 2A
Posted by Sandy Ringer
Summer Nash wasn't going to settle for second place.
Nash, who had to sit out last season after transferring from Mount Si, led Bishop Blanchet to the 3A state volleyball championship tonight with a 3-1 victory over top-ranked Mount Spokane. She is the easy choice for tournament MVP.
Mount Spokane won the first set easily, 25-15, but it was all Blanchet from there.
"We were able to pull it together," Nash said. "Everyone mentally re-set and we knew we could start over."
In the 2A tournament, Archbishop Murphy had to settle for second place after a 3-2 loss to Pullman in the final. The Wildcats ralled from two sets down, but fell short.
I'll be back later with results of the other trophy matches as well as the all-tournament teams.
