Blanchet, Archbishop Murphy advance to title matches
Posted by Sandy Ringer
Bishop Blanchet stormed past Mount Si, 3-0, to earne the right to play for the Class 3A state championship tonight. The match is scheduled for 6:30, but there's a consolation contest in front of it that's still about 20-25 minutes away from starting, so it's going to be later than that.
The third-ranked Braves will face No. 1 Mount Spokane, which had to go five sets to get past Prairie after leading 2-0 early.
It should be a great showdown.
Archbishop Murphy landed a spot in the 2A final with a nail-biting, 3-2 victory over Fife. Fife was up 2-1, but the Wildcats rallied to force a fifth set. It looked like they were going to win that one with ease, leading 14-9. But Fife staved off seven match points before finally falling 18-16.
ATM takes on Pullman in the championship match, also scheduled for 6:30 (that court isn't as far behind as in 3A).
