Vashon's John Gage signs on dotted line
Posted by Mason Kelley
John Gage admitted Wednesday it was a relief to finally be able to sign his letter of intent to play basketball for Standford next season.
"When you verbally commit it's kind of there, but now it's for sure and it feels incredible," said the 6-foot-9, 210-pound forward from Vashon.
Now that he's signed, sealed and delivered to the Cardinal, Gage can focus on his senior year.
"I'm so excited for basketball season," said Gage, who helped the Pirates win their first boys basketball championship last season and was the MVP of the 1A tournament. "We've been working so hard during fall league."
Gage will have company in Palo Alto, Calif. next season. Bellevue point guard Aaron Bright is also joining the Cardinal next season. Both seniors played for local AAU team Friends of Hoop.
"We're really excited for it," said Gage, who recently turned 17. "We committed around same time and we're great friends so it's going to be a great experience. It will be so nice. I'm excited to meet all these new people, too, but at the same time AB will be there and I'll know him, so that's nice."
I've been compiling a list of as many local commitments as I can come up with. It continues to grow and here is the link.
