Issaquah faces Woodinville in KingCo 4A volleyball final
Posted by Sandy Ringer
Just wanted to clear up an error we had in today's story about Woodinville advancing to the championship match of the KingCo 4A volleyball tournament (also known as the SeaKing 4A District tournament).
The top-seeded Falcons indeed moved on with a 3-0 semifinal victory over Newport last night.
But it was third-place Issaquah winning the other semifinal match last night over second-place Bothell, 3-1, avenging a regular-season loss against the Cougars. Alyssa Schultz led a balanced Issaquah attack with 15 kills, while Rachel Roeder had 12 and Stephanie Stoll 11. Riley Sorenson piled up 48 assists, while Alexa Batquin provided 25 digs.
So, Woodinville and Issaquah square off tomorrow night at 5 p.m. at Bothell (that's where our freelance reporter got confused, I think) with a direct state berth on the line.
The loser of that match will still have a shot at advancing to state -- as does Bothell, which would have to win three straight matches to get there.
