Some area district volleyball brackets

Posted by Sandy Ringer

We've had a few inquiries about where to find some of the various brackets for the district volleyball tournaments this week/weekend.

I wish there was one place I could send you, believe me. But if there is, I'm not aware of it.

However, I've done some legwork and can help you out on a few. In many instances, you can go to the WIAA website (which is revamped and looks crisp), click on "About Us" and then "Districts & Leagues" and then click on the are of the state you are interested in.

The problem with some, like the SeaKing District, is that the brackets aren't updated. I'll get back to SeaKing in a minute.

Here are some up-to-date sites.

You can get the West Central District 4A bracket here.

You can get the West Central/Southwest 3A Bi-District bracket here. Thanks to Momi Bowles and her super Auburn Mountainvew website for that info. The West Central District website likely won't be updated until after the completion of Wednesday's sub-district matches (you'll see who's playing in those when you go to the Mountainview link).

You can get the Northwest 4A District bracket here.

You can get the Northwest 3A District bracket here.

Now for SeaKing. I'll start with 4A. Basically, this is the KingCo tournament. The winner advances directly to state. The second- and third-place finishers face playoff matches with the top teams from the Greater St. Helen's 4A League for the final two berths.

You can find the basic SeaKing 4A bracket here. You'll have to fill in the teams: (1) Woodinville, (2) Bothell, (3) Issaquah, (4) Skyline, (5) Newport, (6) Ballard, (7) Eastlake, (8) Redmond.

The quarterfinals are tonight -- Newport at Woodinville and Issaquah at Bothell, both at 7 p.m. The winners play in Thursday's championship match. It's a long road through the loser's bracket, as you'll see.

You can find the basic SeaKing 3A bracket here. Again, you'll have to fill in the teams. In Metro, the are: (1) Seattle Prep, (2) Bishop Blanchet, (3) Eastside Catholic, (4) Holy Names, (5) Nathan Hale, (6) West Seattle, (7) Bainbridge, (8) Cleveland. In KingCo they are: (1) Mercer Island, (2), Mount Si, (3) Juanita, (4) Liberty.

There is the potential for a great quarterfinal Thursday between Eastside Catholic and Mount Si. The semifinal and championship matches are on Saturday at Sammamish. Four teams advance to state.

If you are interested in other district brackets, I'd suggest following the WIAA route detailed above. But this gives you some basics for 4A and 3A.
