State girls soccer rankings -- week nine

Posted by Joshua Mayers

State tournaments start next week, so I expect a lot of moving and shaking to take place in the league and district tournaments across the state in the next couple days. Maybe a big surprise or two.

Just a heads up, this is the second-to-last installment of these rankings for me. The final edition will run prior to state.

The 4A teams had a pretty clean week, so there aren't a lot of changes at that classification. Kamiakin supplants Richland for the No. 10 spot after the Braves beat the Bombers for the district championship on Saturday. Monroe also works its way onto the bubble after securing the No. 1 4A berth to districts out of the WesCo North Division.

We did see some movement at the 3A level. Everett survived two shootouts to close out the regular season with a perfect record. The Seagulls accomplishment is especially impressive considering they're the only 3A school in the division.

The Metro League teams have continued to knock each other around. Lakeside earned the top seed out of the Mountain Division, so the Lions are ranked highest. Seattle Prep, which has placed second in the last three state tournaments and has been a fixture in the rankings all year, is out.

Another league that saw some action was the GSHL 3A league, with both Union and Camas suffering defeats. Lastly, Enumclaw supplants Auburn Mountainview on the air-tight bubble -- the Hornets finished second in the SPSL 3A league.

If you notice any inaccurate win-loss records, please let me know. Records are compiled by coach reports, media reports and the WIAA website.
