Week 10 high-school football rankings
Posted by Mason Kelley
Based on e-mails and voicemails I received over the weekend, it became clear just how excited Bothell fans were about the Cougars' 25-20 victory over Skyline. People wanted to know why the Blue Train wasn't ranked No. 1 in the state the day after the win.
Well, like the college football polls, we only change our rankings once and week, but it is no surprise that Bothell is No. 1 now.
Thursday's game was a classic. It was everything that makes high-school football fun to follow. I know everyone from players and coaches, fans and media members are planning on a state semifinal matchup. But let's not look that far ahead.
Both of the Spartans' losses have been by a total of eight points and they are still the second-best team in the state, so they only fall to No. 2. The rest of the 4A rankings stay the same.
In 3A, the only team to pick up a loss was Camas, in a close game against No. 4 Union, so Peninsula jumps the Papermakers, who remain in the top 10.
After taking a look at the playoff matchups next week, No. 3 Liberty faces a tough test on the road against Camas on Saturday. The time has yet to be determined. We will be posting times and dates for matchups as we get them.
