Good news about Jennica McPherson
Posted by Sandy Ringer
I spoke with Jennica McPherson's mom a little while ago and she had good news about the surgery Jennica had today to remove a cancerous tumor on her lung.
"It went well," Jennifer McPherson said.
I wrote this story about Jennica last week. The Kennedy Catholic volleyball star will miss the rest of the season because of the surgery.
The best news Jennifer got today about her daughter was that it appears the surgical team was able to remove the entire tumor using the VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery) procdedure, which is the least invasive. And she was told they removed only a minimum of the right lung involved (18 to 20 percent).
That means Jennica should heal quickly (far more so than if a full incision had been required) and likely will be able to return to the volleyball court in time for the club season in January. And since she's just a junior, we should see her back in a Kennedy uniform next fall.
We wish her a full and speedy recovery.
