More on Garfield star Tony Wroten
Posted by Mason Kelley
I spoke to Tony Wroten Sr. today and he had little to report on the condition of his son, Tony Wroten Jr., Garfield's star basketball player.
The 6-foot-5 point guard injured his right knee during the fourth quarter of the Bulldogs' season-opening win over Franklin, 12-6.
After missing the past two games, the junior now appears to have a torn ACL, which would also end his basketball season. Wroten Sr. said he will know more later this week and did confirm that his son is expected to have surgery.
"He'll have surgery here, probably next week," he said. "We'll know more here in the next week or so."
Percy Allen, who covers the University of Washington men's basketball team, has additional information in his blog.
Wroten, who was playing football for the first time since seventh grade, played well in his first game, picking off a pair of passes and pulling in a touchdown catch.
