Friday morning standouts

Posted by Mason Kelley

We've got a little football, volleyball, soccer and even swimming to mention today.

Football

Running back Louis Jachim rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, helping Newport blank Ballard, 45-0.

The Roughriders held the Beavers to 69 yards of total offense -- 42 rushing and 27 passing -- and four first downs.

Seattle Prep quarterback Nick Holt, son of University of Washington defensive coordinator Nick Holt, rushed for 140 yards in the Panthers' 28-0 victory over Steilacoom.

Liberty's Chandler Jenkins caught a touchdown pass and rushed for two scores, helping the Patriots defeat Mercer Island 51-13.

Interlake looked good in its 50-28 victory over Mount Si. I'll have more on that game later on when I recap tonight's football games.

Volleyball

Roosevelt needed five games to get past Juanita. The Roughriders were led by Sarah O'Connor, who had 25 kills, 12 assists and three aces. Srinya Sukrachan had 23 digs, while Emily Walters added 30 assists.

Brittany Webster had 18 kills and four aces for the Rebels and Alona Chenish added 36 assists.

Carmen Vasilatos had 27 assists and six aces during Woodinville's 3-0 win over Mercer Island.

Mount Si's Robyn Schirmer had 35 assists, helping the Wildcats edge Issaquah in five games.

Soccer

Anna Geldenhuys had a goal and an assist as Sammamish salvaged a 2-2 tie against Liberty.

Juanita's Danika Bethune scored three goals during the Rebels' 4-0 victory over Interlake.

Sam Pettinger found the net three times and added an assist, while Lindsey Bos scored twice and had an assist in Archbishop Murphy's 11-0 win over Sultan.

West Seattle shut out Franklin, 10-0. Kayla Kliphardt scored three times in the victory.

Swimming

Eastlake set a pair of school records during its 125-61 over Liberty. In diving, Mackenzie Rands recorded a score of 164.40, and in the 100 free, Katie Kinnear had a time of 55.28.

Marysville-Pilchuck's Hannah Taylor set a school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.3. She also won the 200 free in 1:59.21. She was also a part of the 400 free relay team that set a school record with a time of 3:45.11.
