Tuesday morning standouts
Posted by Mason Kelley
Football note
Gates will open for the Skyline-Oaks Christian game at 5:30 p.m. on Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:04 p.m., because it is scheduled to be televised on ESPNU and broadcast on KJR.
The game is sold out and there won't be any way to watch the game from outside the stadium. School officials are worried about the game-night crowd and parking issues, so they are asking anyone who doesn't have a ticket to stay away from the school grounds.
School officials are also encouraging people to carpool or park off campus and then walk up the hill to the field.
Volleyball
There were some good volleyball matchups last night that didn't make the paper, so I'll start with those.
No. 2-ranked Bishop Blanchet swept Skyline, 25-22, 25-15, 25-21.
Summer Nash finished with 11 kills and three aces, while Lindsey Thorkildsen and Allyson Ahern each had 10 digs. Molly Manca added five kills and four blocks and Chloe Sliger distributed 26 assists.
We featured Nash in our PrepRally page today and here is the story.
Garfield won at Franklin, 25-7, 27-25, 25-23.
Miko Guzzardo and Bekah Louie each had 15 assists, while Jazmine Johnson-McCoy and Maren Thorson each added 10 kills for the Bulldogs.
No. 1-ranked Eastside Catholic also scored a sweep, knocking off Eastlake. Cami Silverman had 14 kills, 19 digs and three aces for the Crusaders, while Brooke Bachesta slammed 15 kills and had 11 digs.
Soccer
Laynee Laube scored a pair of goals and had an assist, helping Lakeside blank Ingraham, 5-0.
Redmond's Jessica Larson and Bellevue's Alyssa Gilbert each recorded shutouts as their teams earned victories.
