Weekend football final

Posted by Mason Kelley

Heat, humidity and a really good Katy football team got the best of Bellevue on Saturday.

I was impressed by coach Butch Goncharoff's comments after the game.

"They outplayed us, they outcoached us, and Katy was flat-out the better team," Goncharoff said. "We came in here and we just got beat. They were big and fast and everything we had heard about."

Here is the full game story.

I'm planning on catching up with Goncharoff at some point next week. I'm interested to hear more about the experience and what he thought his players learned on the trip. There is no shame in losing to the Tigers, and it will be interesting to see how they respond with another tough, out-of-state test next week when Sacramento (Grant) comes to town.

I had a few more photos sent in, so I added them here. From a few of the e-mails I received from people at the game, players started to cramp, which hurt the Wolverines because they had so many people playing both ways.

Bothell starts 2-0 against ranked teams

The Blue Train is picking up steam. One week after the Cougars knocked off Issaquah at Qwest Field, they took care of O'Dea, 25-0, at Pop Keeney.

It is a lot of fun watching Luke Proulx carry the football. He rushed for 153 yards and 16 carries.

But the biggest news of the day might be O'Dea standout Zach Fogerson suffering a shoulder injury early in the contest. The Washington recruit had just one carry -- he lost a yard -- and the Irish's attack suffered.

Check back for our 4A and 3A rankings tomorrow and I'll have notes and quotes from around the area Monday.
