VANCOUVER — Kieran McDonagh had his second consecutive 300-yard passing game and Skyview's defense shut down Kentwood 34-7 Friday night at Kiggins Bowl in a Class 4A first-round football playoff game.
Ninth-ranked Skyview will host the winner of Saturday's Edmonds-Woodway/Bellarmine Prep game next week in the state quarterfinals.
McDonagh completed 20 of 24 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns. Parker Henry rushed for 182 yards on 26 carries and two touchdowns for the Storm (9-2).
Skyview led 14-7 at halftime but drove 71 yards to open the third quarter to extend its lead to 21-7.
Forrest Russell's 47-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter sealed the win for Skyview.
Jackson Huerta returned a fumble 42 yards in the second quarter for the only score for the Conquerors (8-3). Matt Hubbard had 123 yards on 23 carries for Kentwood. Dane Manio completed 9 of 19 passes for 70 yards with an interception.
Class 3A
At Lakes 28, Mountain View 0
At Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood, Levonte Littlejohn scored on runs of 65, 16 and 18 yards in the first to power the second-ranked Lancers (11-0) past Mountain View of Vancouver. Lakes will have a quarterfinal showdown with top-ranked Bellevue next week.
Class 2A
Archbishop Murphy 41, at Tumwater 6
In a rematch of last year's state-title game, Ricky Gordon and Alex Galgano each rushed for a pair of touchdowns and the fifth-ranked Wildcats (10-1) dominated the No. 2 Thunderbirds (8-2) on defense to roll into the quarterfinals.
Cameron Guy caught a 32-yard TD pass from Hans VanderWel and Connor Kruse also ran for a touchdown for Archbishop Murphy, which led 41-0 before the Thunderbirds scored. Last year, Tumwater beat Murphy for the state championship, 34-14.
Next week in the quarterfinals, the Wildcats will play the winner of Saturday's first-round game between Steilacoom and Othello.
Class 1A
At King's 42, Hoquiam 28
At Woolsey Stadium in Shoreline, Billy Green passed for five touchdowns as the Knights (8-2) advanced to the quarterfinals. Green hit Ben Welch with scoring strikes of 65, 28 and 29 yards, and connected with Caleb Taylor from 19 and 14 yards. Next week, King's will face the winner of Saturday's Montesano-Cedar Park Christian game.
