KENNEWICK — It was Natalie Allen's turn.

Allen, a senior from Holy Names, rallied to defeat defending champion Sasha Carter of Bainbridge 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 Saturday at the Tri-City Court Club for the Class 3A girls tennis singles championship.

Allen won the 2009 title, but lost to Carter in the final last year. Both players dominated their first three opponents on the way to the championship match.

Another Metro League player, Nathan Hale's Reid deLaubenfels, made it two consecutive state titles by beating Jordan Smith of Mercer Island 6-1, 4-7, 6-2 in the boys final.

In 3A boys doubles, Mitchell and Jamie Thorp of Kennedy Catholic outlasted Seattle Prep's Evan and Drew Beckman 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 in the championship match.

In girls doubles, Grace Porter and Kate Jameson of Bainbridge edged Barbara Ann Carey and Sarah Newman of Seattle Prep in a three-set semifinal before rallying past Mercer Island's Kelly Crandall and Nora Tan 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 for the title.

Mercer Island's girls edged Bainbridge for the team crown, the Islanders' state-record 35th. The Islanders boys dethroned defending champ Seattle Prep by one point.

Class 4A

At Vancouver Tennis Center, WesCo players swept the singles championships.

Jackson junior Michael Chamerski held off Federal Way's Mitch Stewart 6-4, 6-4 in the boys final, helping the Timberwolves to the team crown. Chamerski placed fourth at state as a freshman before sitting out last season to play national-level junior tennis.

In the girls singles title match, Elaine Baik of Kamiak beat Stanwood's Megan Lalone 6-3, 6-2, It was the second consecutive runner-up finish for Lalone.

Kentwood's Tess Manthou and Eliano Spero lost in the girls doubles final.

Kamiak was the girls team champ.

Class 2A

At Nordstrom Tennis Center, Luet Li of Interlake beat Joe Kwiatkowski in three sets for his first boys singles championship, and Tracy Landram repeated as girls singles champ. Lindbergh's Adrian Villanueva and Sam Bayna lost in the boys doubles final.

Interlake's girls were team champions. Lindbergh and Washington tied for the boys team crown, with Interlake three points back.

Class 1A/2B/1B

At the Yakima Tennis Center, Michelle Lui of Bellevue's Forest Ridge School cruised to the girls singles crown, losing only three games in four matches. Overlake's Trym Torvund was the boys runner-up for a second consecutive year, falling 6-4, 6-3 to Charles Wright's Daniel Ham in the final. Cascade Christian's Nathan Anderson, the state singles champ in 2010, added a doubles title this year with partner Ty King.

Charles Wright took the boys and girls team championships. University Prep's boys were one point behind.
