2010 Star Times: Girls basketball

How the Star Times teams are selected
Star Times all-area teams are chosen after the regular season by Seattle Times reporters, freelancers and editors. Selections must be from schools in King and Snohomish counties, or in Metro and WesCo.
Kylie Huerta
Kentwood guard, 5-1, Jr.
Huerta was a key part of last year's state-championship team and has Kentwood back to the tournament, averaging nearly 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Co-MVP of the SPSL 4A North is a heady player who can hit the three-pointer or drive in traffic and is considered a coach on the floor.
Angela Woods
Edmonds-Woodway forward, 5-10, Jr.
With Woods in the lineup, the Warriors are 22-1 this season. She proved to be a tough matchup in the post and also showed a deft touch from outside. Coach Duane Hodges said Woods, who averages 16 points, has exhibited a knack for knocking down big shots to prevent late-game comebacks.
Ali Forde
Woodinville center, 6-1, So.
Through 23 games this season, Forde had 21 double-doubles. She broke Leslie Tuiasosopo's school season rebounding record while averaging 13 per game. She shot 52 percent from the field, averaged almost 16 points and led the seventh-ranked Falcons in steals and blocked shots. She was also second on the team in assists. Not bad for a sophomore.
Betsy Kingma
Newport guard, 5-10, Sr.
Kingma is the epitome of consistency. She is a four-time All-KingCo selection and will finish her career with more than 1,500 points and 500 rebounds. The Seattle Pacific-bound guard averages 19 points for the sixth-ranked Knights.
Mercedes Wetmore
Auburn Riverside guard, 5-8, Sr.
A four-year starter and UW recruit, Wetmore helped the Ravens win 3A state titles in 2007 and '08 and hopes to lead this year's top-ranked team to a 4A title after last year's fourth-place 4A finish. The SPSL North co-MVP averages nearly 17 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Lee Adams
Holy Names coach
Adams led the Cougars to a 16-0 record in Metro League game and a league-tournament championship. Top-ranked Holy Names is a favorite to win the Class 3A state tournament after placing third last season.
