Marysville Premier lures top talent | Prep Wrestling
Snohomish and Moses Lake are back, and will be joined by some of the state's top wrestling teams Saturday in the annual Marysville Premier tournament.
Some of the state's top wrestlers will gather at Marysville-Pilchuck High School for the Marysville Premier tournament Saturday.
Matches begin at 9:30 a.m., with semifinals scheduled for noon and finals likely to go from approximately 3-5 p.m., according to M-P coach Craig Iversen.
Snohomish defeated Moses Lake 225-178 last year for the team title. Both are back. Moses Lake is ranked eighth and Snohomish 13th in the latest Class 4A state rankings by WashingtonWrestlingReport.com.
Moses Lake has three of the state's top wrestlers in freshman Beau Gleed (103 pounds) and juniors Brian Chamberlain (215) and Kabe Fluaitt (285).
Snohomish is led by 160-pound Micah Morrill, who placed third at state at 152 last year, and Luke Perry (145).
State-ranked teams in their classifications that will participate include Inglemoor, Glacier Peak, Burlington-Edison, Darrington and Omak. Eastlake, Lynnwood, Mariner, Marysville-Pilchuck, O'Dea, Wenatchee, Eastmont, Granite Falls, LaConner and Lakewood round out the list of schools.
"We have some heavy hitters," said Iversen, whose M-P team is 13-1 overall and 4-1 in league.
Other top wrestlers expected to compete include Glacier Peak senior Joseph Bratz (103), Inglemoor seniors Jake Lowe (171) and Travis Bogard (285) and Wenatchee seniors Hilario Farias (140) and Lucas Sealby (215).
