    Cascade Christian

Coach: Randy Davis, sixth year, 61-14.

Season snapshot: 13-0 overall, 7-0 Nisqually 1A/2B League. Upset top-ranked Montesano in quarterfinals. 2008 state runner-up.

    Scouting report

The Cougars, who replaced 18 starters, haven't given up more than two touchdowns in any playoff game. Their by-committee rushing attack (not a single 600-yard rusher) has produced more than 2,000 yards.

    Three to watch

    • QB/DB Kyle Stennes (6-0, 170, Jr.) has thrown for 1,301 yards and 19 TDs.

    • RB/DB Tyler Walrath (5-7, 155, Jr.) averages a team-best nine yards per carry and has seven TDs.

    • TE/DB Cody Creech (5-11, 180, Sr.) is the team leader in TDs (13) and INTs (five).

    Quick kick

"Of course Hadley, because he's the difference-maker on that team with his speed." — Davis, on the key to the game.

    Connell

Coach: Wayne Riner, ninth year, 96-24.

Season snapshot: 13-0 overall, 6-0 SCAC 1A East Division. Third title-game appearance in four years.

    Scouting report

Former Washington Redskins tight end Clint Didier is the offensive coordinator of a unit that has produced at least four touchdowns in every game but one. The 4-3 defense has allowed more than 14 points just once.

    Three to watch

    • RB/DB Matt Hadley (5-11, 170, So.) is a Division I prospect who garnered 391 all-purpose yards in one game this season.

    • QB Nate Martinez (5-10, 160, Sr.) has been hampered recently with a sore back but has still thrown for more than 1,500 yards.

    • WR/DB Shane Didier (5-10, 165, Sr.), the son of Clint Didier, is an explosive weapon for Martinez.

    Quick kick

"We both have great team speed, we've both beaten 2A quarterfinalists, and both teams don't really have superstars — just really good football players." — Riner

    Darren Fessenden
