ISSAQUAH — In the eyes of the third-ranked Issaquah girls' soccer team, Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood ranks up there with Disneyland as dream destinations.

This explains why Issaquah coach Tom Bunnell, as he addressed his team after its 4-0 win in the 4A state quarterfinals Saturday night over 13th-ranked Monroe, wore mouse ears.

"A lot of the girls have been to Disneyland," Bunnell said, "so we asked them what's better? Going to Disneyland or to Harry Lang? They said Harry Lang. So we wore mouse ears. Just a little joke."

So Lakewood will be the happiest place on earth for the Eagles (16-2) Friday when they face sixth-ranked Kamiakin in a state semifinal.

Kamiakin (18-1-1) defeated 11th-ranked Lewis & Clark 2-1 in a shootout Friday in Kennewick.

The Eagles were clearly no Mickey Mouse unit Saturday as they rolled to their eighth straight win. Issaquah controlled the tempo from the start and got two first-half goals from freshman Audrey Thomas and two in the second half from senior Lindsay Stoll.

Junior goalkeeper Brooke Miller recorded her second straight shutout and her eighth of the season. Monroe (12-6-2) forced her to make just two saves.

The Eagles have scored at least three goals in each of their last nine matches, outscoring opponents 28-2 during that stretch. "They're on a roll," Bunnell said.

"This isn't the team that is supposed to do that," Bunnell added.

"[KingCo 4A] is such a tough league. But this is just a bunch of kids who love each other, get along, have a blast and work hard. So it's really, really a cool season."

Especially cool were the two goals scored by Thomas, a 4-foot-11 ½ freshman midfielder. "And that half-inch is very important," Thomas said with a smile.
