Alex Martinez led a strong running game as Archbishop Murphy knocked off R. A. Long of Longview 35-10 in a Class 2A first-round football playoff game.

EVERETT — Alex Martinez led a strong running game as Archbishop Murphy knocked off R.A. Long of Longview 35-10 in a Class 2A first-round football playoff game Saturday at Goddard Stadium.
The Wildcats (10-1) rushed for 259 yards on 58 carries, including 18 by Martinez for 103 yards and an 8-yard touchdown.
Jake Clark caught five passes for 90 yards and a 22-yard touchdown and also returned an interception 55 yards for a score.
The Wildcats held R.A. Long (8-3) to 107 yards of total offense.
Archbishop Murphy will play W.F. West of Chehalis in the quarterfinals next weekend.
