WOODINVILLE — They've got talent and momentum.

And after Tuesday's resounding 3-0 victory over Newport in the semifinal match of the KingCo 4A volleyball tournament, the Woodinville Falcons are a win away from state.

The top-seeded Falcons will play No. 3 seed Issaquah at Bothell Thursday at 5 p.m. for the conference title and state-tournament berth. The loser of the title match must play the Greater St. Helens League's No. 2 seed on Saturday for a state berth.

Ninth-ranked Woodinville swept Newport 25-16, 25-19, 25-22. The Falcons controlled all three games, never trailing by more than three points.

"If [Newport put together] a couple runs, we stepped it up and came back and did our job," Woodinville senior setter Nikki Conley said.

Conley, the KingCo MVP, led the way with 25 assists. Junior setter Carmen Vasilatos had 15 digs and Melissa Gilkey, Ali Forde and Danielle Towslee all had at least seven kills.

Conley, Gilkey and Forde all are on the seven-player All-KingCo first team.

"It takes more than one person to put everything together," Woodinville coach Mike Mills said. "I think people pick out one person in volleyball. For [us] it's a real team effort."

Woodinville last made state in 2007.

"It would be awesome," said Conley of advancing to the state tournament next week in Kennewick. "It would be so fun."
