Former assistant football coach sentenced, fined

Joseph A. Chimenti, a former Eastside Catholic assistant football coach, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation last week, the Chelan County District Court confirmed Monday.
The 49-year-old was sentenced to 364 days in jail and fined $5,000. After having 304 days of that sentence and $4,500 of the fine suspended, he will end up serving 60 days and paying a fine of $543 — the extra money coming from court costs.
Chimenti was initially accused of inappropriately touching a 17-year-old female student while on vacation in the Chelan area July 11.
He was also put on probation for two years. According to the terms of his probation, he can have no similar law violations, as well as no assaultive, threatening or harassing behavior. He is not allowed to leave the state of Washington without the approval of his probation officer.
The court issued a no-contact order between Chimenti and the victim, and he cannot have unsupervised contact with minors under the age of 18, except for his children.
