Highline's Ryan Brett earns Louisville Slugger All-America honor
Highline's Ryan Brett was the only Washington player named a first-team high-school All-American by Louisville Slugger.

Highline's Ryan Brett has been named a first-team high-school All-American by Louisville Slugger and also was honored on the all-state team selected by the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association.
Brett, named in the multi-position category, is the only Washington player named to the first team. Brett Jacobs of Richland earned honorable mention.
Brett, the Seamount League MVP, was also named to The Seattle Times' Star Times all-area team and has accepted a scholarship to play baseball for Washington.
Marangon, Boyd, Peterson
among players honored
Chris Marangon of Tahoma in Maple Valley was named the Player of the Year in Class 4A, and Matt Boyd of Eastside Catholic and Eric Peterson of Liberty shared the 3A honor on the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association.
Brian Fisher of Newport in Bellevue was named Coach of the Year in 4A, and Dave Larson of Highline earned the 3A honor. Cedarcrest in Duval swept 2A honors, with Travis Cook named Player of the Year, and Scott Goldberry Coach of the Year. Naches earned both A-B honors, with Thomas Wilcox named the top player and Bill Walker the top coach.
Curtis' Geubelle
earns Gatorade honor
Andrea Geubelle of Curtis High School in University Place is the Gatorade Washington Athlete of the Year for girls track and field.
The senior won three individual events at the Class 4A state meet last month. She won the 100 meters (11.87 seconds), the long jump (19 feet, 4 inches) and triple jump a title-winning 40-11 ¾ inches. The Vikings finished second as a team. A five-time state champion, Geubelle ranked No. 5 nationally in the triple jump (41-9) and No. 12 in the long jump (19-10 ½).
Geubelle will compete at Kansas next year.
"It's just consistency; she doesn't really take time off," said Curtis High coach Terry Rice in a news release. "What's done more to strengthen her career than anything else is just her work ethic. Every time we see her compete, you're looking for another great mark. It's a long season, and with her you get some 38-foot marks in the triple or 18-whatever in the long jump and you go, 'Ho-hum.' But those are all good marks. It's been a great three-year run."
