Frank Parker, who was part of Adam Barrett's staff when Auburn Riverside won back-to-back Class 3A state girls basketball titles in 2007 and '08, has been named head boys coach at Graham-Kapowsin High School in Graham.
He succeeds Bryan Streleski, who started the G-K program when the school opened in 2005. Streleski said he stepped down to concentrate on his family and duties as the school's athletic coordinator, a position he assumed this school year.
Parker, who lives in Graham, was an assistant coach with the Auburn Riverside girls for four years and helped the Ravens earn four state trophies. They placed fourth at the 4A tournament this season.
"He's experienced as a coach and player, he's a member of our community and a strong leader," Streleski said.
One of Parker's daughters graduated from Graham-Kapowsin and another from Bethel.
Graham-Kapowsin has won just one game in each of the past two boys basketball seasons, twice finishing 1-19. The Eagles' boys teams are 7-72 since the school opened.
Note
• Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie is searching for a girls basketball coach. Applications are due to athletic director Greg Hart by May 22.
