2009 Chips List | Blue Chips: Players capable of Division I BCS stardom

About the Chip List: The Times' Top 100 Chip List is compiled from observations and interviews with coaches at various levels. Sportswriters from around the state are consulted and the rankings by Rivals.com and Scout.com recruiting Web sites weighed. Players are evaluated on their college potential.

Deandre Coleman

DL, 6-5, 290, Garfield | California

It doesn't take a long look at Coleman to recognize why colleges have sought the defensive lineman, even as his team went winless this season. Coleman was the most intimidating athlete in the state. One coach called him "unblockable." He originally committed to Washington, but later switched to California.

Kirby Moore

WR, 6-3, 210, Prosser | Boise State

Moore was only the most accomplished wide receiver in high-school football history, with national records for touchdowns in a season (34) and a career (95). He is fast and also has great leaping ability. Moore, a coach's son, runs the most perfect routes in the state. Next season he will join his brother, Kellen, Boise State's starting quarterback.

Gino Simone

WR, 6-0, 175, Skyline | WSU

Simone, Scout.com's No. 1 recruit in the state, has the speed and vision to make up for his smaller size when he joins the Cougars. Simone is also versatile: He caught 13 touchdowns, ran for one, scored on four kick returns and was one of the state's top safeties. He won back-to-back state titles with Skyline.
