AUBURN — Fifth-ranked Auburn needed some fourth-quarter heroics from Jeff Gouveia to pull off a 67-66 comeback boys basketball win over rival Auburn Riverside Friday night.
Gouveia scored 15 of the Trojans' 24 points in the final eight minutes.
Riverside (5-5, 3-4 SPSL 4A North) led 66-61 with 1:07 remaining, but couldn't hold on. Gouveia, a 6-foot senior guard and an all-state football player, scored the winning points for Auburn (7-2, 5-2) with seven seconds to go.
Riverside missed two free throws with 1.4 seconds left. Ryan Rogers, a 6-4 junior guard, led the Ravens with 26 points and 13 rebounds.

Garfield 78, at Eastlake 39
Tony Wroten scored 23 as the top-ranked Bulldogs won easily in KingCo 4A.
At Kentridge 73, Kent-Meridian 58
Dylan Zylstra had a season-high 28 points on 14-of-20 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds, and sophomore Gary Bell had 19 points and five assists for No. 8 Kentridge in the SPSL 4A North.
Franklin 83, at O'Dea 57
Chris Holmes scored 26 and Peyton Siva 25 as the Quakers, ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, improved to 9-0 with a Metro win.
Renton 59, at Evergreen 54

The No. 4 Indians took a nine-point lead into the fourth quarter and held on for a Seamount win. Kwame Bates' 19 points for Evergreen led all scorers.
Enumclaw 65, at Lakes 51
Taylor Myers' season-high 28 points helped the No. 7 Hornets pull away for an SPSL 3A victory.
At Mount Rainier 84, Kennedy 67
Benny Bridges sank 7 of 8 three-point attempts and scored a career-high 31 points, and No. 8 Mount Rainier buried 13 threes. Tyrell Lewis added 15 points, 11 rebounds and four assists for the Rams. Deshea Bell scored 21 and Antonio Gonzalez had 15 points and 11 rebounds for Kennedy.
Girls games
Kentwood 83, at Kent-Meridian 27
The No. 2 Conquerors led 25-0 after one quarter of the SPSL 4A North game. Sanda Milovic scored 24 for Kentwood.
Auburn Riverside 83, at Auburn 40
Five Ravens scored in double figures as No. 5 Riverside cruised in the SPSL 4A North.
Issaquah 54, at Newport 47
Erin Nicol scored 17 and the eighth-ranked Eagles overcame Betsy Kingma's 19 points for Newport as they bounced back for a KingCo 4A win after a loss to Roosevelt on Wednesday.
At Woodinville 54, Inglemoor 47, OT
Sarah Hale's 15-footer put the Falcons ahead to stay in overtime after Inglemoor's Alex Nelson tied it with a three-pointer at the fourth-quarter buzzer. Nelson scored 19 and was 8 of 8 at the free-throw line. Crystal Nybo scored 17 for Woodinville.
At Edmonds-Woodway 72, Shorewood 47
Sophomore Angela Woods' 24 points, eight rebounds and four steals led the Warriors, ranked 10th in 4A, to a WesCo South win.
White River 63, at Bonney Lake 51
The No. 4 Hornets improved to 7-0 with an SPSL 3A victory as Megan McKune and Kendall Williams combined for 29 points.
Jackson 51, at Meadowdale 46
Chanel Sam scored a season-high 17 as the Timberwolves upset the Mavericks, ranked fifth in 3A, in the WesCo South.
At Lakeside 59, Cleveland 26
Morgan Merriman's season-best 23 points and nine rebounds helped the No. 6 Lions breeze to a Metro win.
At Holy Names 51, Franklin 48
The Cougars got off to a fast start and held on for a Metro win. Claire Conricode scored 18 for Holy Names.
At Enumclaw 58, Lakes 55, OT
Mara Koplitz capped a 32-point game with all seven of Enumclaw's overtime points in the SPSL 3A. She forced OT with two free throws with seven seconds remaining.
Notes
• Sammamish's 6-10 David Wink scored with five seconds left to give the Totems a 42-40 KingCo 3A/2A boys victory over Interlake.
• John Gage and Thomas Timm-Skove each scored 16 as Vashon improved to 9-1 with a 65-38 rout of Seattle Christian. The 1A Pirates' only loss was to 4A Roosevelt.
• Sophomore Lexi Peterson scored 29 and 6-2 freshman Kate Collier had 15 points and 16 rebounds as Seattle Christian (9-0) crushed Vashon 76-49 in a 1A showdown of unbeaten Nisqually League teams.
• Roosevelt freshman Katherine Woodworth hit 5 of 8 three-point shots and scored a season-high 18 points in a 65-31 KingCo 4A girls win over Lake Washington.
