A broken arm will keep sophomore Brett Kingma, Jackson's leading scorer, out for the rest of the basketball season.

Jackson sophomore Brett Kingma is out for the season after breaking his left arm in Tuesday's game at Lynnwood, Timberwolves boys basketball coach Steve Johnson said Wednesday.

Kingma, a 6-foot-2 guard averaging 20.1 points, suffered the injury early in Jackson's 46-41 win when he was fouled while making a layup. His expected recovery time after surgery is 6 to 8 weeks.

"Obviously, it's a devastating blow for us," Johnson said. "He's arguably the best player in the league."

Kingma has multiple college scholarship offers, including one from Gonzaga. He averaged 17.4 points as a freshman last season, when he was a second-team All-WesCo South selection.

He is expected to make a full recovery.

Wednesday's girls highlights

• Edmonds-Woodway (6-1, 5-0 WesCo South), ranked 10th in Class 4A, trailed 24-14 before using a 30-point second quarter to pull away from Kamiak 81-60. Angela Woods' 20 points for E-W led all scorers.

• Kennedy (7-0, 4-0 Seamount), ranked No. 1 in 3A, beat Lindbergh 58-47 despite 25 points by the Eagles' Jordan Halingstad.

• Gonzaga recruit Brittany Gray's 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists led No. 7 Bainbridge (4-1, 3-0 Metro) past Seattle Prep 50-39. Anna Wood added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Spartans.

• Hanna Fjortoft scored 20 points and hit four three-pointers and fifth-ranked Meadowdale (6-1, 5-0 WesCo South) began the fourth quarter on a 13-0 run to beat Shorecrest 52-32.
