Prep Football Roundup: Liberty rallies, edges Mount Si 25-20

ISSAQUAH — Trey Wheeler's 50-yard touchdown pass to Chandler Jenkins with two minutes remaining gave ninth-ranked Liberty a 25-20 victory over Mount Si Friday night in a game for second place in the KingCo 3A/2A Conference.
Liberty (7-2 overall, 5-1 league) finished second, with Mount Si (5-4, 4-2) third. Both advance to the state playoffs next week.
Jenkins caught Wheeler's pass over the middle and raced untouched to the end zone to wipe out a 20-19 Mount Si lead.
The Patriots had stopped the Wildcats on downs at midfield, setting up the winning play.
Wheeler, a sophomore, finished with 262 yards on 13-of-20 passing. Jenkins had five catches for 135 yards, and Richard Crespo had six receptions for 116 yards and a score.
Joseph Yea had 95 yards on 15 carries and defensive tackle Dan Eck returned an interception 46 yards to set up a Liberty touchdown.
Sean Snead had TD runs of 77 and 4 yards for Mount Si.
Other KingCo 3A/2A
Bellevue 56, at Interlake 14
The top-ranked Wolverines (9-0, 6-0) tuned up for their playoff opener next Saturday, rushing for 346 yards against the 2A Saints (5-4, 2-4). Will Fields carried 11 times for 157 yards and three touchdowns, David Nguyen had 103 yards on only three carries and Sean Coley returned a kickoff 98 yards for a Bellevue touchdown. Interlake's Matt Malos completed 15 of 24 passes for 213 yards and two TDs, and Dylan Amell had eight catches for 138 yards.
At Juanita 45, Mercer Island 14
Nick Olerain's 67-yard touchdown pass to Nate Kiehn broke open a close game as the Rebels (5-4, 3-3) beat the Islanders (3-6, 1-5). Juanita led 17-14 before the third-quarter strike. Olerain passed for 191 yards and returned an interception 67 yards for a TD. Kyle Bowden intercepted two passes, Kiehn had 132 yards on three catches and Jerimiah Laufasa carried 16 times for 101 yards for the Rebels, whose five wins are their most since 1999.

Renton 35, Highline 0
At Highline Stadium, Mar'que Fluker broke touchdown runs of 54 and 39 yards as the Indians (5-4, 5-3) claimed the league's third playoff berth with a shutout of the Pirates (3-5, 3-5). Kennedy, Lindbergh and Mount Rainier took Seamount's other playoff spots. Fluker had 96 yards on only five carries. Travino Buckley added 99 yards on 13 carries and Armin Basic (14 tackles, six for loss) led a Renton defense that limited Highline to 141 total yards.
SPSL 3A
Bonney Lake 26, Sumner 7
At Sunset Chev Stadium, turnovers hurt Sumner (4-5, 3-5), as Bonney Lake (5-4, 4-4) recovered three fumbles and intercepted a pass to claim a playoff trip. Bonney Lake finished tied with Auburn Mountainview for the league's fourth berth, and the Panthers beat the Lions 28-0 in September. Kyle Yanusevich passed for 187 yards and a touchdown for Bonney Lake, which held the Spartans to 122 total yards.
At Peninsula 49, Franklin Pierce 35
The 10th-ranked Seahawks (7-2, 7-1) outscored Franklin Pierce (3-5, 3-4) to finish second in the league. Lakes, Peninsula, Enumclaw and Bonney Lake advance to state from SPSL 3A.
Nonleague
Sammamish 10, at Foster 7
Cody Martinell's 15-yard TD run in the fourth quarter gave the Totems (1-8) their first win. A short punt by the Bulldogs (3-6) set Sammamish up at the Foster 25-yard line. Norman Moi Moi's 1-yard TD run had put the Bulldogs ahead 7-3 in the third quarter.

• Prosser senior Kirby Moore caught three touchdown passes in a 48-17 win over Ephrata Friday night, breaking the national record for TD receptions in a career. Moore has 85. He broke the national record of 83, set by Abram Booty of Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian from 1993-96. Moore has 24 touchdown catches this year for Prosser (9-0), ranked No. 1 in Class 2A.
