Molly Freed and Nicole Stariha each had a goal and an assist as Chief Sealth got its first Metro League girls soccer victory in nearly five years on Thursday, beating Franklin 3-0 at Genesee Playfield.
The Seahawks (1-4 overall, 1-2 Metro) had not beaten a league opponent since Oct. 28, 2003, when they blanked Cleveland 6-0.
"Each year we've gotten a little bit better," said Sealth coach Ron Johnson. "We went from [losing] 21-0 to single digits, and now we finally got a win."
Slwan Logman got the third goal in the Seahawks' victory. Freed and Julia Hodges shared goalkeeping duties.
