KIRKLAND — Tyler Bjork got a hat trick as Juanita won the KingCo 4A tournament championship and a state-tournament berth with a 4-1 victory over Eastlake Wednesday night at Juanita High School.
Bjork, a senior forward on a team dominated by sophomores, scored three minutes into the match. He added goals in the 26th and 79th minutes.
It was the first KingCo title in boys soccer for Juanita (12-5), which was making its first appearance in the conference title match after winning the Mountain Division regular-season championship.
The Rebels, who have nine sophomores and a freshman among their 16 players, will host a first-round match in the state playoffs next Tuesday.
"We kind of had our minds set all year on leaving a lasting impression in 4A," said first-year Juanita coach Kevin Lamb. The Kirkland school will drop to Class 3A next school year.
Eastlake (10-7) plays Bothell in a winner-to-state match Thursday night. The loser of that contest could still qualify for state by beating a Vancouver-area team Saturday.
