BELLEVUE — Leroy Lutu hit a three-pointer to snap a tie in overtime as fourth-ranked Mercer Island slipped past Skyline 52-49 Thursday night to reach the championship game of the KingCo 3A boys basketball tournament.
Lutu finished with 22 points.
The Islanders (19-2) will play Bellevue at 6:30 p.m. today at Bellevue Community College for the title and the conference's top seed to the Sea-King District tournament, which starts next week.
Travis Frame, whose two free throws late in regulation helped send the game to overtime, led Skyline with 12 points. The Spartans (14-8) play Issaquah for third and fourth place at 3 p.m. today.
Other KingCo 3A game
Bellevue 60, Issaquah 59
At BCC, Alex Schrempf made one of two free throws with 2.5 seconds remaining to snap a tie and put the ninth-ranked Wolverines (18-4) in the KingCo 3A final. Aaron Bright scored 16 points, Schrempf scored 15 and Colton Christian had 10 points and six assists for the Wolverines. Bren Hobzek scored 24 and Matt Lapasin had 17 for the Eagles (15-8). It was Bellevue's second win in three games against Issaquah the past two weeks.
Metro League
O'Dea 54, Cleveland 48, OT
Dominic Ballard got half of his eight points in overtime as the Irish (16-6) got past Cleveland (13-7) in a game to decide Metro's third and fourth seeds to the Sea-King 3A District tournament. Michael Crudup scored 18 for the Eagles. Brian Walker led O'Dea with 15.
Northwest 3A subdistrict
At Meadowdale 69, Arlington 59

Evan Matteson and Paul Werner each scored 14 as Meadowdale (18-3) beat Arlington (7-14) in a game to settle WesCo's Nos. 1 and 2 seeds to the Northwest 3A District tournament, which starts Tuesday. Matteson also had eight rebounds and five blocks. Lucas Larson scored 18 and Cole Carpenter 14 for the Royals.
Lynnwood 64, Shorecrest 54
At Meadowdale, the Royals (10-11) trailed by one through three quarters, but rallied and hit 11 of 12 free throws down the stretch in a game for the third and fourth seeds from WesCo to the district tournament. Andrew Beatty scored 14 and Spencer Hunsinger and Aaron Matzen each had 13 for Lynnwood. Mark Golike scored 14 for the Scots (8-14).
Seamount/SPSL 3A sub-district
At Auburn Riverside 58, Highline 52 (loser out)
Ryan Rogers and Mitch Hagerty combined for 18 points in the fourth quarter as the Ravens (13-10) claimed a spot in the West Central 3A District tournament while eliminating the Pirates (8-12). Rogers, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Sam Melick added 10 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. Kenny Raymond scored 23 for Highline.
Auburn Mountainview 56, Lindbergh 48 (loser out)
The Lions (12-9) advanced to the district tournament while eliminating the Eagles (10-12). Mountainview plays Auburn Riverside at 11 a.m. Saturday at Auburn High School for the subdistrict's Nos. 7 and 8 seeds to district.
Northwest 1A District
King's 57, at Nooksack Valley 47
The Knights from Shoreline, ranked No. 2 in the state, went inside to 6-4 Erich Fuhlendorf, who delivered 20 points, five rebounds and three assists to help them advance to the championship game. Dylan O'Neil, a 6-7 senior, added 16 points for King's. The Knights (17-4) will play for the title at 5:15 p.m. Saturday at Mount Vernon against Friday Harbor, which beat Meridian 58-56 in the other tournament semifinal. Three teams advance to the bi-district tournament, which starts next Wednesday.
