Class 4A
Team qualifiers (with district/regional scores): Woodinville 180.6, Puyallup 172.725, University 169.05, Beamer 167.875.
Gymnasts to watch (with district or regional all-around scores): Sienna Viltz, Lake Washington, 37.5; Danielle Taylor, Richland, 36.875; Brianna Howe, Emerald Ridge, 36.775; Kaylyn Borden, Beamer, 36.75; Emily Heizer, Woodinville, 36.625; Katie Bubnich, Puyallup, 36.6; Amy Sisk, Inglemoor, 36.325; Hailey Wells, Woodinville, 36.275; Gina Puccio, Bothell, 36.225.
Outlook: KingCo 4A teams (Inglemoor, Redmond, Bothell, Woodinville) have won four of last five titles. Woodinville looks like a cinch to defend its 2007 crown after eliminating rival Bothell, its toughest challenger, at district. Lake Washington sophomore Sienna Viltz, the all-around favorite, placed 10th last year.
Class 3A/2A
Team qualifiers (with district/regional scores): Newport 174.9, Issaquah 171.875, Kamiakin 168.825, Columbia River 166.825, Auburn Mountainview 164.425, Bainbridge 161.325, Auburn Riverside 152.60, Mount Rainier 143.775.
Gymnasts to watch (with district or regional all-around scores): Gwen Smithberg, Kennedy, 37.45; Laura Maruhashi, Mercer Island, 36.875; Brett Konen, Newport, 36.5; Meghan Ballou, Mount Spokane, 36.5; Taisha Duran, Hudson's Bay, 36.375; Olivia Goree, Issaquah, 36.125; Louise Baker, Lindbergh, 35.75; Natalie Hostetter, Auburn Mountainview, 35.725; Georgia Reynolds, Mount Si, 35.575; Dakota McMillan, Union, 35.55; Kara Chin, Issaquah, 35.3; Kristin Scribner, Bonney Lake, 35.025.
Outlook: After winning team titles in 2006 and 2007, Newport is on the verge of another 3A/2A threepeat. The Knights won three straight from 1999-2001. Newport also won in 1994, '95 and '97 before separate 4A and 3A/2A titles were first awarded in 1999. Kennedy junior Gwen Smithberg tied for fourth in last year's all-around and could be the favorite.
