Dominic Ballard, who won an eligibility appeal after transferring from O'Dea to Garfield and back again, made his boys basketball season debut Tuesday night and scored a team-high 15 points as the Irish beat Ingraham 61-45.
Ballard was a freshman reserve for O'Dea's Class 3A state champions last year. The 6-foot-2 sophomore transferred to Garfield at the start of this academic year, then returned to O'Dea after one academic quarter.
The unranked Irish improved to 9-3 overall, 7-2 in the Metro League.
Notes
• Sasha Shefts, who coached Holy Names to third place in the 3A state girls soccer tournament last fall, has resigned to devote more time to his real-estate career. Shefts was head coach at the all-girls school for three seasons. Potential applicants are asked to contact Holy Names athletic director Jana Kohler.
• Snohomish has named David LeWarne its boys and girls cross-country coach. LeWarne previously coached at Mountlake Terrace.
• Dan Parker will be the first cross-country coach at Glacier Peak High School, which opens next fall in Snohomish. Parker coached Snohomish's boys team to ninth place at state, and the girls team to third place at state last fall.
