Eric Jones , Auburn Riverside wrestling
Jones, a senior competing at 152 pounds, captured his first Tri-State Tournament title in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, improving to 14-0. He won three of five matches by pin and scored an impressive 5-3 victory over Graham-Kapowsin's Brad Sweet in the championship match. Sweet won the Class 4A state title at 145 last year, and Jones was the 3A champion at that weight.
Brittany Barrington , Federal Way basketball
Barrington, a 5-foot-5 freshman guard, led a fourth-quarter rally as the Eagles came from behind to beat rival Jefferson, 70-69. She finished with 32 points, seven steals, three rebounds and two assists. Barrington also scored 14 in a 60-33 win over Kent-Meridian.
Ballard girls basketball team
The Beavers, coached by Karen Blair, improved to 4-0 in the KingCo 4A Conference, 6-0 overall, with a 50-26 romp past previously unbeaten Roosevelt, then ranked No. 5 in the state. Earlier in the week, Ballard edged Redmond 59-57.
