Boys Basketball Roundup | Miller's 38 help propel Mt. Rainier past Highline
BURIEN — Alfie Miller keeps putting up a lot of points, and Mount Rainier's boys basketball team keeps winning.
Miller, a 5-foot-10 senior guard, scored a career-high 38 points to lead the ninth-ranked Rams of Des Moines to an 88-75 victory over host Highline on Friday in a Seamount League game.
Miller made 14 of 14 free-throw attempts and shot 9 of 11 from the field, and Mount Rainier (4-0 overall, 2-0 league) fought off a spirited run from the Pirates (1-1, 1-1) in the second half. Miller raised his scoring average to 27.3.
Thang Nguyen had 27 points for Highline, which cut a 17-point halftime deficit to five before finally succumbing.

At Kennedy 58, Hazen 49
Tre Watson had 18 points, Matt Swallow added 16, and the 10th-ranked Lancers (4-0, 2-0) beat the Highlanders (1-4, 0-2), who were led by Caleb Frary's 20 points.
At Lindbergh 63, Evergreen 52
Senior Chris Jones had 11 points and 11 rebounds and junior Kyle Swannack added 10 points and 12 rebounds to help lead the Eagles (1-4, 1-1) past the Wolverines (0-2, 0-2). Evergreen's Kwame Bates and Kari Wells each had 19 points.
At Renton 89, Tyee 40
Joseph Holifield had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and James Powell added 14 points and 10 boards as the third-ranked Indians (4-0, 2-0) beat the Totems (1-4, 0-2).

Rainier Beach 86, at Nathan Hale 34
Abebe Dimissee had 15 points and three other Vikings scored in double figures to lead No. 1 Rainier Beach (4-1, 4-0) past the Raiders (2-4, 0-4) in the Sound Division. Mychal Ladd had 14 points, Lee Monsegur had 13 and Jarnon Echols 10. Ben Scheideman led Nathan Hale with 16 points.
At Seattle Prep 61, Bishop Blanchet 30
Jordan Hamilton had 15 points, Jack Hanley added 12, and the fourth-ranked Panthers (3-1, 3-1) rolled past the Braves (0-6, 0-4) in a Mountain matchup. Stephen Reinhart scored 15 for Blanchet.
Cleveland 63, at West Seattle 61
Senior forward Michael Crudup had 21 points and Cartiea French-Toney, also a senior, added 15 as the Eagles (4-1, 4-0) held off the Wildcats (2-4, 1-3) in a Sound Division game. Junior T.J. Lee and senior Malcholm Love each had 14 points for West Seattle.
At O'Dea 49, Eastside Catholic 43
Johri Fogerson had 13 points, Brian Walker had 12 and Jordan Suther 11 as the Irish (3-2, 3-1) beat the Crusaders (2-3, 2-2) in a Mountain Division matchup.
Bainbridge 66, at Lakeside 52
Caleb Davis hit back-to-back three-pointers in the third quarter to put the Spartans (3-2, 3-1) up for good in a Mountain Division game. Davis' long-range shooting started a 16-0 run, and the 6-1 senior scored 12 of his game-high 20 points in the third. Nic Lane had 14 points to pace the host Lions (0-5, 0-4).

Auburn 72, at White River 35
Ryan Snowden, a 6-4 wing, had 14 points, Teancum Stafford scored 11, and the fifth-ranked Trojans (7-0, 3-0) tuned up for their showdown Tuesday against Enumclaw by hammering the Hornets (0-5, 0-3). Nolan Gibson led White River with 11 points.
At Auburn Mountainview 63, Sumner 44
Senior guard Jeremy Bland scored 12 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter, when the Lions (2-3, 1-2) expanded on their seven-point lead at the start of the period. Brendan Wills, a 6-5 senior, added 16 points for Auburn Mountainview. The Spartans (1-7, 0-3) were led by sophomore Mike Murphy (14 points) and junior Jonny Greenwood (12).
At Auburn Riverside 73, Bonney Lake 58
Junior guard Mitch Hagerty had 20 points and seven rebounds, and the Ravens (3-3, 3-0) put away the Panthers (2-2, 1-2) by outscoring them 27-18 in the fourth quarter. Senior Bronson Damen had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Bonney Lake was led by senior Paul McMullan's 14 points.
Enumclaw 66, at Franklin Pierce 52
Senior guard C.J. Fitzpatrick had 20 points, and the seventh-ranked Hornets (5-0, 3-0) beat the Cardinals (1-6, 1-2). P.J. Bolte led Franklin Pierce with 24 points, nine rebounds and six blocks.
