Juanita High School football coach Steve Bennett has resigned after three years with the Rebels. A school press release stated Bennett wants to focus more on his duties as a U.S. history teacher and department chairman.
Bennett was promoted from defensive coordinator in 2005 and led the Rebels to their first winning season since 1999 in his first year. Juanita went 5-13 the past two seasons.
Athletic director Tim Crowder said the school will not begin interviewing candidates until January.

Issaquah senior Kate Deines has been named state player of the year and a fall All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Coach Tom Bunnell said Deines is the school's first All-American.
Deines scored 22 goals with four assists this season and led Issaquah to its third Class 3A state title in four years.
