Marcisa McMillan , Lindbergh girls basketball

McMillan, a 6-foot-3 junior center, is off to a mammoth start in leading the Eagles to a 3-1 record, averaging 18.3 points, 12.8 rebounds and 5.3 blocks. McMillan posted a triple-double against Kentridge with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 11 blocks, and had double-doubles in the other games.

Rodrick Rumble , Oak Harbor boys basketball

Rumble, a 6-3 senior wing, had a hot hand in the Wildcats' season opener, going off for 33 points against Anacortes. It wasn't quite enough, though, as they lost 66-63. Rumble followed with an 18-point performance in another tough loss, to Squalicum.

Renton boys basketball team

The Indians, a Class 3A team coached by Rick Comer, made an early statement with a pair of victories over ranked 4A teams in the Les Schwab Tipoff Classic. After beating No. 9 Gig Harbor 68-51, they knocked off No. 7 Kentwood 72-69 in the championship game.

Stars of the week are selected by The Seattle Times staff and published Tuesdays, but can be chosen only once each sports season. Nominations may be e-mailed by Sunday night to sports@seattletimes.com with name, school and accomplishments.
