SPANAWAY — The teams came in with matching records, but Emerald Ridge proved no match for Bethel.
Ikaika Gleason scored three touchdowns — one on defense, one on offense and one on special teams — as the Braves hammered the Jaguars 46-11 on Friday night in a South Puget Sound League 4A South Division game at Art Crate Stadium.
Gleason returned a kickoff 85 yards for a TD, caught a 31-yard TD pass and had a 48-yard interception return for a score.
The victory moves Bethel (6-2 overall, 4-2 league) into a tie for third place in the South with Graham-Kapowsin. The Braves beat the Eagles 40-19 last week.
Bethel faces Spanaway Lake on Friday, a day after Graham-Kapowsin plays Emerald Ridge.
The top four teams from the division qualify for the preliminary round of the state playoffs, while the North Division gets three bids.
